Kylie Minogue in Prague in March

Why not choose to stay with  Escape to Prague when you book your ticket to see Kylie.

Diminutive pop star Kylie Minogue has already made her 2011 New Year’s resolutions, revealing that she hopes to make a return to the big screen very soon.

Having starred in Neighbours as Charlene Robinson before turning into a world-renowned popstress, Minogue also had a role as the green fairy in Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge!

Chatting with Kate Thornton during a Kylie special that will air on Radio 2, Minogue confessed:

“I don’t know why I haven’t done it yet. Musicals are, it’s no surprise, right up my alley and I would be in seventh heaven doing a musical. It’s going to happen somehow but I need to be a bit more pro-active.”

Kylie will play at  The O2 Arena, just a short trip from our apartments, on 2nd March 2011

Prague Marathon 2011

The Prague Marathon 2011 takes place on May 8th. Our Prague Apartments are generally full, as marathon entrants enjoy the convenience of staying close to the and finish of the course, and the luxury of having somewhere to relax when they come back exhausted.
Did you know that the Volkswagen Prague Marathon has been voted one of the most beautiful marathon courses in the world? If you like discovering the undiscovered, running alongside a river and meandering through the heart of a medieval capital city, then the Volkswagen Prague Marathon is for you. The race starts and finishes on the famous Old Town Square (just a few minutes walk from our King Wenceslas Apartments) and takes you through all the different neighbourhoods of the wonderful city of Prague.

Prague Easter Markets 2011

The Prague Easter markets run daily from 09 April to 01 May 2011 at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, only a short stroll from our King Wenceslas Apartments. Over 100 stalls stock a variety of handcrafted products; wooden toys, Czech crystal and glass-ware, jewellery, metal-ware, candles, embroidered cloth, and beautifully dressed puppets and dolls.

The most common sight is brightly coloured, hand-painted Easter eggs, which Czech ladies dressed in traditional costume may even personalise for you, by painting on a name or special message.

The Prague Easter markets are not just about shopping though. The tastes and smells are equally enticing, with (possibly) unhealthy, but wonderfully tasty barbecued sausages and ice-cold Pilsner beer on sale. Several stalls also have large hams roasting on spits.

Plus there is a variety of traditional Czech sweets to try, like 'Trdelnik', a hot sugary coated pastry.

Stages erected at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square host folk groups and dancers, who travel from all over the Czech Republic to perform.

Prague Astronomical Clock

If you are staying in any of our Prague apartments, just a short walk away you can visit the Astronomical clock in Old Town Square, one of Prague’s most visited tourist destinations. The clock was built on to the Old Town City Hall. It includes a clock dial, which follows the movement of the sun, and a calendar. It is very unique, and crowds gather to see its famous chime movement on the hour.
One segment of the clock was made in 1410, and completed in 1490 when the calendar dial was added. The clock later suffered a large amount of damage when Germans attempted to shut down revolts. It was restored and this October the clock celebrated its 600th anniversary.
All King Wenceslas apartments on the Escapetoprague website are just a short stroll from this famous landmark.
